Privacy
Scribe is built to keep your reading to yourself. Here is everything it, and this website, sends anywhere.
The app
- Your library stays on your Mac. What you save, your highlights and your notes live in a folder on your own disk. There’s no account, no sign-in and no sync to anyone’s server.
- Saving from the web fetches that page. When you save an article from a link, Scribe downloads the page and its images so you can read it offline. That request goes to the site you’re saving from, as it would in a browser.
- Update checks. Scribe checks for new versions by reading a small public file of releases on GitHub. The check doesn’t include anything about you or your library.
- No tracking. Scribe doesn’t collect analytics or usage data, and doesn’t know what you read.
This website
- No cookies, analytics or third-party trackers. The fonts are served from this site, not from a font service.
- If you switch between Day and Evening, your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage so the next page remembers it. It never leaves your browser.
- Like any web server, the one serving this site may keep standard access logs (the address that asked, the page and the time) for running and protecting it.
Scribe isn’t released yet. If anything here changes before it is, this page will say so.
